In
New York, you don't last more than five decades in the real estate
business unless you're very good at what you do. (In fact, you don't
last five minutes.)

Founded
in 1943 by Alexander J. Clarke for the purpose of managing residential
property, A.J. Clarke concentrated solely on management for
its first 36 years. In the late 1970s, when the residential
landscape of Manhattan was forever changed by co-op conversions
of rental buildings, A.J. Clarke accommodated market demand
by establishing its Residential Sales Division, bringing together
buyers and sellers of cooperative and, later, condominium apartments.
No company in New York's rapidly paced real estate market can
flourish while remaining in one place. Within a decade of forming
the Residential Sales Division, A.J. Clarke established the
Residential Rental, Corporate Relocation and Investor Unit Management
divisions. It was growth undertaken with care and consideration,
focused on the firm foundation of the company's continuing success:
personalized and individualized service. In January 1999, A.J.
Clarke Management Corp. officially became A.J. Clarke Real Estate
Corp. to better reflect these full services. The name was new,
but the old-fashioned values, the foundation on which one of
New York's premiere real estate companies was built, remained
the same. |
